Kaaabooom!

I colored the panda fish :)

I kinda like how it looks like a shot out of a movie, but at the same time, the more I look at it, the more I wish I paid attention to the anatomy of the shoulder. It's pretty off, but oh well.

So I had my brain explode the other day. My teacher looked at my portfolio, he's been helping me out a lot since I got to AAU, pointing me in the right direction and all, and he says I have a lot of potential in character development (visual development) for animation, possibly more than animation. It makes sense, cause I love drawing these little cartoons, so I'm going to try to character animation 1, and if that doesn't work, I'll hi-tail it the other way. The more i think about it, the more I seem to like the idea of visual development . . . we'll see. I had never thought about it before.

Panda-Fish

And children, this is why we don't do drugs . . . I've noticed that late night drawings look like they came out of a drug trip and almost always have to do with pandas, but I think that last part is just me.

Freddie and I have started working on a short animation from Oren Lavie's song, Ruby Rises. Its an awesome song, if you haven't listened, go listen now, you won't be disappointed. I'm doing all the animation stuff and Freddie's in charge of all the concepting. I'm going to try to teach him some animation stuff, so we'll see how that goes . . . Might also bring someone else in on it after I make the storyboard. I'll post the stuff here when we get going further on it!

A.P.E.

Random half hour sketch I did last night when I couldn't sleep . . . looking at it now her forehead is kinda short. :/ I've gotta really practice heads for Heads and Hands 1 for next semester . . . I think my teacher is a little disappointed with where I am now . . . I'm working on it though!

Went to the alternative press expo yesterday, met some really great artists! I bought a Gnomon Workshop storyboarding DVD by Derek Thompson, a pixar story artist. He was a pretty cool guy, got him to sign it for me. He said to email him with what I think after I watch it. So far it's pretty good, it's three hours long, I think I've watched about an hour or so. I'll be sure to email him, I think this dvd will really help me with my animating.

I also met Pacal Champion, who is now one of my favorite artists! His use of color is really amazing, go check him out if you're reading this! www.pascalchampion.com I got his autographed book and he gave me a free print I've now got hanging on my wall.

Massive Black was there, too, Freddie freaked out and got two of his idols' sketchbook copies signed. I also saw a teacher of mine from last year, Joko. He's pretty epic, I couldn't afford his book, sadly, so I got him to sign one of his free posters for me. I might see him again in advanced perspective.

All in all, it got me pretty pumped and excited to draw an animate, totally worth the money, even though now I can't buy food. Give and take, eh? :)

Well, today is a fun-filled day of homework! So I best get to it. Blah.

hello

Trying to get a blog on every website possible, it seems sometimes. I need to find one and stick with it. Gotta find one I like I guess :)
